Megan North has served as President of Value-Based Care for Conifer Health Solutions since its formation in 2012. In this role, North is responsible for leading the national operations of Conifer Health’s value-based care business unit, which provides clinical integration, population health management and financial risk management services for more than 300 organizations. These include independent practice associations, commercial and Medicare accountable care organizations (ACOs), clinically integrated organizations, full-risk bearing providers, hospitals, health systems, self-funded employers, Taft-Hartley plans, and federal and state employer plans.
With more than 25 years of risk-based hospital and physician-practice operational expertise, North has a laserlike focus on helping the healthcare industry transition to a value-based healthcare model. During those two-plus decades, she and her team have been meeting this challenge, serving providers in highly regulated, capitated markets and employers desiring to bend their cost curve.
“There is a disparity in healthcare,” North said. “There are people who have health benefits and don’t have the awareness to properly use the healthcare system’s preventive resources. They end up costing the industry more when they have an acute event. At Conifer Health, we work to prevent this by helping educate members, becoming their advocates and working more closely with their providers. And we work directly with provider organizations to proactively manage their members to improve health outcomes and reduce the cost of healthcare.”
She has held various healthcare leadership positions during her career, serving as CEO of Cap Management Systems for more than 13 years. North was also a driving force within Tenet, leading several key initiatives tied to healthcare reform and supporting the formation of clinically integrated organizations throughout the country. In addition, she has created a highly successful model for physician and hospital alignment in California, including services and technology infrastructure.
North received her bachelor’s degree from Boston University and her MBA from Pepperdine University in California.
